These three white-oak tables were original to the Victorian home and had been designed to sit at bench height within the dining-room bay windows. The clients wanted to use them differently: raised to counter height so they could become serving tables during large family gatherings.

Rather than replace them, we extended the legs, added stretchers, and carefully blended the new stain and finish into the original material. It was a small project compared with a whole-house renovation, but exactly the kind of detailed work that can be incredibly satisfying.

Cass, one of our apprentices with furniture-making experience, took on the work after the clients saw how excited she was by the idea. The finished pieces keep the history of the room intact while giving the tables a useful new purpose.
