Willard Beach Renovation

This South Portland home had a kitchen doing too many jobs at once: food prep, hallway, mudroom, and circulation space. We converted an existing covered porch into conditioned living space and reorganized the kitchen and dining area into something much more relaxed and usable.

The traffic pattern through the house still works, but now there’s a reason to stop along the way! The new dining nook is bright and comfortable, while a proper mudroom and additional storage give coats, shoes, and everyday gear somewhere to land.

The clients cared a lot about how the space would feel, so the design developed iteratively until it felt right. One of our favorite details came from a trip with the clients to source salvaged lumber. Max, one of our lead carpenters, turned it into the dining table that now anchors the room.
